SSGT. Luther Moses Joshua

Luther Moses Joshua, 72, of Gainesville, Florida, departed this life on July 15, 2026. He was a retired custodian with the Veterans Administration Hospital, a retired Staff Sergeant in the United States Army, and an active member of the Improved Benevolent Protective Order of Elks of the World.

Luther was born on April 30, 1954, in Williston, Florida, to the late Moses Joshua and Betty Jean Joshua.

SSGT Joshua is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Shirley Joshua; his sons, Terrance White (Alice) of Gainesville, Florida, and Lamont Lee (Jessica) of Clearwater, Florida; his siblings, Arthur Leon Joshua (Gloria) of Alachua, Florida; Dorthey R. Copeland (Jimmie) of Hallandale, Florida; Valery Annette McCoy (Charles) of Riverview, Florida; Myra Joshua Sweet (Ronald) of Jacksonville, Florida; Kenneth Brown (Angie) of Chiefland, Florida; Edwin Brown; Kathy Hayes-Brown (Paul); Karl Brown (Girleen); Kay Brown; and Karen Brown, all of Tampa, Florida; Lavoris “Tony” Brown (Yvette) and Melvin Brown, both of Miami, Florida; and Daryl Brown (Terrie) of Chiefland, Florida. He is also survived by his honorary brother, Ethorn Buie (Georgette) of Newberry, Florida; eleven grandchildren, Jasmine, Terriana, Justis, Jordan, Dominick, Maryiah, Wynter, Jayden, Terrance, Malik, and Aaron; two great-grandchildren, Triton and Tylin; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
