Ruth E. Wright

2 Timothy 4:7 (KJV)

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”

A Time to Be Born

Ruth Evelyn Wright was born on July 5, 1960, in Williston, Florida, to the late Lee and Frances Woodard. She was affectionately known by many as “Lil Mama.”

A Time to Learn and Labor

Ruth was a proud graduate of Levy County Vocational School, Class of 1978. After completing her education, she dedicated over 30 years of faithful service at Shands Hospital. She retired twice from her career, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and excellence.

A Time to Love

For 18 years, Ruth was blessed with the love and companionship of her devoted husband, Eddie Wright, who lovingly called her his “Boo-Boo.”

A Time to Rest

On September 29, 2025, Ruth answered the Master’s call and was welcomed into eternal rest. She now rejoices in Heaven with her parents, Lee and Frances Woodard; her sisters, Darlene Woodard and Lisa Woodard; and her sister-in-law, Barbara Woodard.

A Time to Be Remembered

Ruth’s life and legacy will forever be cherished by her devoted husband, Eddie Wright; her two loving sons, Kendrick Henry (Yameila) and Justin Gillispie (Danielle); and her loving daughter, Lea Gillispie.

She was the proud grandmother of Tayler, Kynzi, Kylee, Christian, Jadien, Rylan, Jasiah, and Alijah, all of whom brought great joy to her life.

Ruth will also be deeply missed by her siblings: one sister, Faye Woodard, and three brothers, Patrick Woodard, Donell Woodard (Laura), and Lee Woodard Jr.

She leaves behind cherished aunts, Audrey Crawford, Virginia Wiley, Ella Mae Spates, and Mary Ann Spates; and Two uncles, Alfred Patterson (Gladys) and Anthony Patterson (Gwendolyn).

Ruth also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and many dear friends who will continue to celebrate her legacy and treasure her memory.
