Mother Thelma Collins – McCray

Ms. Thelma Collins – McCray was born on January 9, 1925, in Rural Levy County, Florida (Sandhill). She is the second child of two born to Reverend Frank C. Collins and Marie Thompson. She departed this life on Friday, November 10, 2023. She was married to Mr. Dan McCray, Jr until his demise on October 29, 1976.

She was educated through the Levy County School System. For many years she was a homemaker and caretaker. Mother McCray was saved and filled the Holy Ghost under the pastoral leadership of the late Superintendent Johnny J. Jones, Sr. at Jones Temple Church of God in Christ in Williston, Florida. She worked in the church in various capacities such as a soprano in Jones Temple Adult Choir, Mothers Board, and Prayer Band. In 2009 she joined New Life Temple Fellowship, Inc. under the leadership of Bishop Mark A. Jones.

Proceeded her in death: Parents, Brother: Robert Lee Collins, Sr., daughter-in-love: Margaret Mathis-Burgmon.

She leaves to mourn her passing two children: son: Christopher C. Burgmon, Sr., and daughter and caretaker: Janice McCray – Sams (Willie L. Sams).

Nine (9) grandchildren: Derrick Perry, Christopher Burgmon, Jr., Javarie McDonald, Danta Johnson, Tara Sams, Kevis Johnson, Samantha Sams, Asha McDonald, Darren Sams(Jadah), and  Kimberly Sams.

Nineteen (19) Great grandchildren and Eight (8) Great-Great Grandchildren

She also leaves sister-in-law: Delores Days; god sister: Linda Anderson (Robert), Gloria Sherman, Twanda Miller; god brothers: Ralph Miller, Jeffrey Miller, Terry Miller and Michael Miller, god son: Gary Miller, Jr. and numerous of nephews, nieces, cousins, and extended family.

Special Family & Friends: Theresa Miller & Family, Oneida Williams, Blondese Logan, Mary Coleman, and Tyronica Thompkins.
