Remembering The Life Of
Mother Dora Wright Smith
Dora Esther Simpkins was born to late Charlie and Mary (Street) Simpkins, On February 12, 1933. She was the eldest of ten children and was raised in Holder, Florida. She departed this life on February 13, 2026, just one day after her 93rd birthday. Dora graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1951, after which she began a career of more than fifty-years in the medical field as a nurse. She was a faithful and active member of Outreach Church of God Written in Heaven for over twenty years and was a valued Mother of the church.
Dora was a person of great principle, known for her feisty spirit, her kindness and generosity and her love for family and friends. She enjoyed traveling extensively in the U.S. and abroad, even collecting decorative plates from all fifty states, which she cherished in her home over the years. Throughout her life, Dora never met a person in need that she was not willing to help whatever way she could.
Dora leaves behind a legacy of devotion to family and service to others. She was proceeded in death by husbands: Andrew J. Wright and Linburg Smith; sons: Thomas R. and Andrew J. Wright; siblings: Arthur Simpkins, Poncella Boone and Charlie Simpkins.
She is survived by two children, Sinclair A. Wright (Carolyn) and Villa J. Simmons, brothers: Isaiah Simpkins, Joe H. Simpkins (Bennie), and sisters: Etha Mae Brown, Flossie Swain, Rogenia Hilton (Richard), and Joanne Simpkins, along with eight grandchildren, sixteen great children and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
