Life Reflections
Kenneth Dwayne Traylor was born October 15, 1965 in Los Angeles, California to Delores McCray and Kurtis Traylor. He relocated to Gainesville, Florida at the age of 6 and attended Alachua County Public Schools and graduated from Eastside High School in 1984.
Kenneth continued his education at Tennessee State University immediately after high school in the early 80’s before returning to Gainesville. He had a great passion for mentoring and helping young men. In 2006 he created KDT Teenlife and Activity Services. His belief was that every young man need male role models in their lives.
Kenneth attended Santa Fe Community College and Lake City Community College where he received his State of Florida Corrections Certification and Crossover Training Certificate in Law Enforcement.
Many has crossed paths with him because he worked for several employers and agencies. Pass employment was with Kendall Security, Sears, Alachua County Department of the Jail, North Florida Evaluation Treatment Center (NFETC), Santa Fe College Police Department, Department of Juvenile Justice, Juvenile Assessment Center, Florida Department of Corrections and UF Health Shands/Springhill Security. He retired from the State of Florida with 30 years of service and retired from UF Health Security with 12 years of service due to COVID-19.
Family
Kenneth met the love of his life, beloved wife of 26 years Wanda Irons-Traylor and they resided in Archer FL. He was known for his strong will, unwavering determination and love and support of his family. Along with his wife he was a devoted member of LPJ Worship and Praise Ministries in Archer, Florida.
Kenneth was a family man who loved kids. He had a passion for sports and the love was not limited. He was a football guy who loved the gym and staying physically fit.
He was a father, grandfather, daddy, uncle, cousin and friend to many. He always had an encouraging word to give. He was a man of many faces in the community.
Preceded in joining the Lord; mother-Delores McCray, father-Kurtis Traylor, sister–Melody Thomas, brother –Bernard Byrd.
Survived by: Wife-Wanda Irons-Traylor of Archer, FL; sons-Kenneth Traylor II (Chantel) of Newberry, FL; Traz Irons of Brooklyn, NY, Jacquez Washington, Marcellus Traylor and Valentino Cook-Traylor of Archer, FL; daughters-Fotina Perry of Gainesville, FL, Carlotta Traylor (Kendra) of Bronson, FL, LaKendra Traylor of Gainesville, FL, Markeya Traylor, Vontrey’via Cook-Traylor of Archer, FL; grandchildren-Jaden Mavin, Kennedy Traylor, Wiley Dawsey, Carter Traylor, Kenzie Traylor, Chase McCloud, Amarion (Ace) Washington, Za’kia (Buddy-Love) Foster; sisters-Angela Ponds (Bernard), Thyra Epps, Gloria Henderson of Gainesville, FL, Pastor Cathy Nickleson (Rex) of Raeford, NC; special friends-George Strickland and Maria Sanchez; aunt-Annie Pearl McCray, special aunt-Alberta Hopkins Walls, host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
