Jestine "Boostie" Rozier

Life and Legacy

Jestine Rozier was born February 23, 1944, to the late Melton Tillman and Ida Mae Rozier in Fort Lauderdale Florida. Jestine was the third child born to this holy union.  As a child, Jestine joined and was baptized at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Jestine served faithfully as an usher and a choir member until her health began to declined.

At an early age, Jestine matriculated through the Broward County Schools and was an active member of the Blance Ely High School class of  1962. Jestine was a majorette and an active member of the theatre club. Jestine became known as “Bootsie” because of the way the marching boots accentuated her long legs. Jestine was actively involved with her high school graduation class of 1962 reunion committee.

Jestine met and married Sam “Pie Joe” Jenkins and to this union, two children were born, Thaddeus Donnell Rozier, Sr. (deceased), and Alesha Ann Jenkins.

Jestine dedicated more than 30 years to Broward County Public Schools. The highlight of her career was the implementation of her schools computer technology program. Jestine proudly retired in 2005.

Jestine’s vibrant personality and unique character are one of a kind. She was known for her quick witt and use of colorful metaphors. These distinctive qualities were how Jestine connected to others. Jestine’s legacy is family and helping people. She would go out of her way to help in any way  she could, and she genuinely cared although you may have heard and felt her wrath along the way.

Jestine completed her earthly assignment and ascended to her heavenly home at age 79 on April 11, 2023, in Chiefland, FL surrounded by loving family.
