Brother Manuel Appling Jr.

Brother Manuel “Poppa” Appling, Jr., age 87, husband of Cora Mae Appling, quietly and peacefully left this earthly life to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 25, 2025, at home surrounded by family. He was loved dearly by his family and friends and well known throughout the community and surrounding areas. He knew no stranger. His time on earth afforded him an opportunity to be a builder of Jim Waters Homes; a watermelon contractor; a truck driver; a logger; an avid fisherman, and a custom hay baler just to name a few.

Brother Appling is preceded in death by his parents Manuel Appling, Sr., and Hagar “Lil Bit” Duffy.; a daughter Naomi Appling; siblings Willie Duncan, Sr., Marie Frazier, Albert Jay Appling, Betty Cody; grandson Ezra Cal Williams, Jr., and great grandson Tyler Ford.

Brother Appling leaves to cherish his precious memories: A loving and devoted wife of 69 years, Cora Mae Appling of Williston, FL; 9 Children Usher Appling, Sr. (Sharon); Joyce Williams (Ezra-deceased); LeeEsther Wallace (Erick); Jacqueline Appling; Carl Appling (Beverly) all of Williston, FL, Regina Evans (George) Flemington, FL; James Williams, Jr, of Jacksonville FL; Flora Williams, and Greg Williams of Williston, FL; 36 grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren, 25 great, great grandchildren; 8 great, great, great grandchildren; 1 daughter in law; Bernita Faye Appling; 1 sister Deloris Phillips, 1 brother Richard Phillips, of Deland, FL; 2 brother in laws Collie Sutton, Jr., Williston, FL, Mitchell Cody, Deland, FL; 2 sister in-laws, Mary Johnson, Monticello, NY; Ellen Mitchell Neal, Newark, DE; 5 Godchildren, Ahmes Askia, Benita Parker, Santrice Foskey, Minnie Singleton, Shenetta Neal and Kebris Miller; 1 adopted daughter Verdell Jefferson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowing friends.

Visitation for Brother Manuel Appling, Jr., will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026, at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church; 21251 NE 40th Street; Williston, FL 32696 from 5-7pm and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 11:00am at Unity Temple International Fellowship; 2351 NE 200th Ave., Williston, FL 32696. There will be no viewing after the eulogy. Family and friends are asked to meet at the home of Brother Appling located at 21995 NE 35th Street, Williston, FL 32696 on Saturday at 10:15am to form the cortege.
